Borderline

This is the winner of a 1% artistique competition (a French scheme that sets aside 1% of the cost of a new public building to finance a public art commission). The idea relates to the specific situation of a park shared by two schools, the Lycée Alfred de Musset and the IUFM. The client wanted to mark out the limit between the two areas without creating a frontier. Borderline creates a reference point without being visually or physically intrusive. Rather than markings that merely divide up the space, they are also functional and redefine the space.
