Striato Marble Furniture / 2O22
The 3DPD series’ title stands for 3-dimensional Pietre Dure. The classical Pietra Dura artist typically chose a marble’s pattern to represent various figurative elements such as a dramatic sky, the roof of a house or a waterfall. These meticulous compositions mostly took on the form of flat, wall mounted panels. The pieces of the 3DPD collection instead are carved from a solid block of Striato Olimico marble. This material is typically used as a veneer, but here its “wrong” faces - the mineral equivalent of a broadcast breaking down into white noise is exposed.
