Series of marble objects / 2O11
The reason why this series is called Exercise is that for once I approached it from the angle of a material rather than starting with a concept. Olimpo Striato is an African marble with almost perfectly regular veins: theres a real ambiguity between the natural and the artificial, because the veins seem to have been painted by a robotic arm, making them perfectly parallel. Because the marble has been made as thin as possible, the light areas become translucent.
